Catalan language, honorary guest in Expolangues 2010

NEWS IN BRIEF. It is the first time a non-state language is given such status.

Paris' Expolangues Fair, which gathers every year institutions and worldwide professionals promoting language learning and multilingualism is opening doors on Thursday with Catalan language as a guest of honour. "Catalan, a language of 10 million Europeans" is Ramon Llull Institute's motto for this year's edition.

Catalan writers such as Najat el Hachmi, Màrius Serra, Miquel Rayó and Carme Riera, as well as civil and political institutions for the promotion of the language -Escola Valenciana, governments of Catalonia, Balearic Islands, the General Council of the Eastern Pyrenees, the Ramon Llull Net of Valencian Cities, the municipality of Alghero and the Lluís Vives University Net- will attend the event.
