Peoples and nations today: Transnistria
DOSSIER. According to maps of Eastern Europe, the Dniester River divides Moldova and Ukraine. It rises in the Carpathians and flows into the Black Sea. Yet atlases do not show that there is a stripe of land forming a new State along the west bank of the river, which is called Transnistria. However, it is not recognized by any other government or international institution.

Frisian and Danish communities in German Schleswig-Holstein will have twice as many MPs
The South Schleswig Voters' Federation (SSW, Südschleswigscher Wählerverband, in German) has obtained 4 seats in Germany’s northernmost state. Schleswig-Holstein is considered a part of the Frisian nation (Northern Frisia) although is also inhabited by Danish people.
