Diwan of Karaez considered as the second best institute in France, says Le Figaro

A Breton-medium school is awarded with the silver medal as their secondary education students ranked 2 in all-France results

Date: From 07/13/2010 to 07/20/2010
Type: Language and culture

According to a chart issued by the French newspaper Le Figaro, the Diwan centre at Karaez-Plougêr (Carhaix-Plouguer, in French) obtained the second best marks among all secondary institutes (lycées) of the state. The Diwan schools are secular, free of charge and have Breton as the language of education. The second position comes as a remarkable success if one bears in mind that Breton -and the rest of languages spoken in France- is denied official recognition.

The study gathered information and data from the Ministry of Education and examined the efficiency of institutes. The marking stressed the institute's capacity "to guide the students and make them progress".
