Pro-autonomy parties would obtain 17% and pro-independence Corsica Libera, 6%
New polls have given a boost to the expectations of Corsican pro-sovereignty forces ahead of elections. Pro-Corsican parties had split off again between pro-autonomy and pro-independence supporters during last term, and so polls were not predicting good results. According to new polls made by Le Figaro newspaper, LCI, RTL and Corse Matin, the Femu a Corsica list, an alliance of moderate nationalist parties such as Partitu di a Nazione Corsa (Jean-Christophe Angelini) and Inseme per a Corsica (Gilles Simeoni), would obtain 17% of the vote in the first round.
Corsica Libera, the leftist pro-independence party led by Jean-Guy Talamoni, would improve its share securing a 6% of the vote, which would leave them only 1 % behind the 7% threshold needed to contest a second round. The first round is going to be held on March 14.
